GASEOUS PHASE BRAZING METHOD OF AL OR AL ALLOY

A new brazing method for Al or Al alloy is carried out in a non-oxidising atmos contg a vapour of potassium fluoroaluminate complex (1) which is not coated on the surface of the assembly to be bonded. Alternatively (1) can be coated on the part of the assembly to be bonded, if necessary. The brazing can also be carried out in a non-oxidising atmos contg (1) produced by the reaction of Al metal with KF and a fluoride complex. (1) contains as major component Ka1F4. The brazing can also be carried out in a non-oxidising atmos contg (1); which is produced by a reaction of Al metal with a metal-complex contg K, F and other metals excluding Al. The major component of (1)' is KA1F4 The brazing can also be carried out in non-oxidising atmos contg the vapour generated from a molten mixt of KF and A1F3.
