<p>PURPOSE:To quickly and efficiently execute melting of scrap by inserting iron oxide-containing material so as to come into contact with the scrap in the furnace at the time of melting the scrap with combustion heat of the carbon- series fuel by using a smelting furnace. CONSTITUTION:Bedded coke 2 is laid on the furnace bottom in a converter 1, and after igniting with bottom oxygen, the scrap 3 is charged and heated with top and bottom blows to execute the melting of the scrap 3. Then, the iron oxide-containing material 6 is inserted together with the scrap 3 and left to come into contact with the scrap 3. Further, as the iron oxide-containing material 6, the material containing the iron oxide for generating CO gas by being brought into contact with C under heating of the iron ore, semi-reduced pellet, chromium ore, etc., and without giving adverse effect to molten iron quality, is used. By this method, the heat exchange is promoted and the heat conductive efficiency to the scrap 3 is improved.</p> |
