METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR FORMING GLASS FIBERS

The glass fibers are manufactured by the glass fiber with an apertured pressure plate. The apertured pressure plate (a flow resistance device) is located above the apertured wall, reducing the glass pressure at the apertures sufficiently to stop glass flow when a filament break occurs. The pressure is reduced to atmospheric or to a pressure less than the internal pressure of a bend formed on the aperture when a filament breaks.
