<p>PURPOSE:To facilitate the valve opening and closing timing setting by providing the first holding means holding an engine valve at the closed position against an elastic member and the second holding means holding the engine valve at the opened position between the engine valve and a valve system cam and controlling their operations. CONSTITUTION:When an intake valve 5 is used as an engine valve, a spring retainer 9 fixed at the upper end of a valve shaft section 5a is made of a magnetic material, the first solenoid actuator A1 serving as the first holding means is constituted of this retainer 9 and an electromagnet body 13, and the second solenoid actuator A2 serving as the second holding means is constituted of the retainer 9 and an electromagnet body 34. A valve driving means 16 to convey the force in the valve opening direction by the intake cam 15 of a valve system cam shaft 14 to the intake valve 5 is provided, and it has rocker arms 18 and 19 excited by a valve opening torsion spring 20 in the opening direction of the intake valve. The electromagnet bodies 13 and 34 are excited and controlled to adjust the opening and closing timing of the intake valve with a control circuit C.</p> |
