PURPOSE:To stabilize a sensitive body to heat and light and to enhance the carrier generating ability by incorporating a specified azo pigment into the photosensitive layer. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive layer contg. an azo pigment represented by formula I is formed on an electrically conductive support. In the formula I, X is lower alkyl, a hetero ring, etc., A is a divalent residue, a is H or cyano, Cp is a coupler residue such as a group represented by formula II and Y is a group of atoms required to form an arom. or hetero ring. The photosensitive layer may be a single layer contg. the azo pigment dispersed in a binder or an electric charge transferring material or may be composed of an electric charge generating layer contg. the azo pigment dispersed in a binder such as butyral resin and an electric charge transferring layer contg. a desired electric charge transferring material. |
