PURPOSE:To improve accuracy in measuring molten metal, by the constitution, wherein a pair of electrodes is formed by the same metal as the molten metal, the electrodes are guided out of cooling projections which are protruded from the outer surface of a duct, and the tips of the electrodes are exposed to the inside of the flow path of the duct. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 14 and 14' are guided out of cooling projections 12 and 12', which are protruded from the outer surface of a duct 11, and cooled by the projections. Even though the molten metal flows through a flow path 11' in a duct, the electrodes are not melted and flow out. Since the electrodes 14 and 14' are directly contacted with the molten metal, the measured value is not affected by the electric resistance of ceramics, which is a constituent member of the duct 11. Since the electrodes and the molten metal are not the different kind of metals, thermal electromotive force is not generated even though there is a temperature gradient between both parts. The diameter alpha' of small through holes 13 and 13' of the electrodes 14 and 14' are made as small as possible so that the tips of the electrodes do not fall off. Thus the measuring accuracy can be improved. |
