PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording body having excellent transparency and superior matching properties with a thermal head by composing a supporter of a transparent or semitransparent sheet, bringing the mean grain size of a material forming a coating fluid for a thermal recording layer to a specific value or less, mainly incorporating polyvinyl alcohol and/or modified polyvinyl alcohol in a binder shaping a protective layer and adding a specific quantity of kaolin having specific grain size in the protective layer as a pigment. CONSTITUTION:In the thermal recording body, a supporter consists of a transparent or semitransparent sheet, the mean grain size of a material forming a coating fluid for a thermal recording layer is 1.2mum or less, a binder shaping a protective layer mainly comprises polyvinyl alcohol and/or modified polyvinyl alcohol, and kaolin having mean grain size of 0.5mum or less is included in the protective layer at 50-80wt.% as a pigment. According to the constitution, the thermal recording body having excellent transparency and superior matching properties with a thermal head is acquired. When the mean grain size of a material constituting the thermal recording body exceeds 1.2mum, the transparency of the thermal recording body is rapidly lowered. |
