O F D I S C L O S U R E Method for Continuous Casting a Hollow Metallic Ingot and Apparatus threrefor In a continuous casting a hollow ingot (15) by means of a forcedly cooled tubular mold (1) and a core (16), gas is introduced around an outer peripheral surface of the core (16) to form an annular gap surrounding an inner peripheral surface of hollow metalic molten metal (9), and gas pressure is applied on said inner peripheral surface of the hollow molten metal (9). Refractory heat-insulative material (59) is brought into contact with the molten metal (9) poured into said annular space at the casting start, encased in the metal solidified thereon, and withdrawn together with the hollow ingot (15) being withdrawn. By these methods smooth cast skin is formed on the inner periperal surface of a hollow ingot.
