PURPOSE:To prevent the failure of the medium and head and the attraction of a head to the medium surface by providing a protective lubricating film contg. polyether having perfluorooalkylene and/or the deriv. thereof on a floating surface. CONSTITUTION:The floating type magnetic head 1 has an insulating layer 31, a lower magnetic pole layer 41, a gap layer 5, an insulating layer 33, a coil layer 6, an insulating layer 35, an upper magnetic pole layer 45, and a protective layer 7 successively on a substrate 2. The magnetic layer is thin magnetic film essentially consisting of iron oxide. At least the floating surface of the floating type magnetic head 1 is constituted of a ceramics material having >=1,000 Vickers hardness. The protective lubricating film 11 contg. the polyether having perfluorooalkylene and/or the deriv. thereof is provided on the above- mentioned magnetic layers or at least the floating surface of the floating type magnetic head. The friction between the magnetic recording medium and the magnetic head is lessened in this way and the fluctuation is lessened as well. The attraction of the magnetic head to the magnetic recording medium is hardly generated. |
