Apparatus and process for separating off solids from a liquid by filtration

An apparatus and a process are described for separating off solids from a liquid by filtration, a suspension-mounted filter drum being provided which lies in a bend of an endless driven conveyor belt and which contains in its drum periphery large surface-area recesses which are covered in the interior of the drum by chord-like - based on the circular shape of the drum - extending tongues or plates and between the endless conveyor belt and the outer surface of the periphery of the filter drum a filter belt is carried along which covers the orifices in the periphery of the filter drum. The endless conveyor belt with the filter belt adhering beneath owing to the liquid detaches itself roughly at right angles from the periphery surface after it has wound round roughly half of the filter drum.
