PURPOSE:To easily, quickly and exactly execute automatic focusing by detecting the groove width which is cut by actual working by a groove width detecting means and moving a lens to a position in which the groove width becomes minimum. CONSTITUTION:In a laser beam machine, a work W is positioned on a work table 11 by a movement of a first and a second carriages 21, 23, and by driving a motor Mz, the tip of a nozzle unit 19 of a working head device 13 is brought close to the work W, a condensing lens 17 is adjusted to prescribed height by an automatic focusing device, and thereafter, the work W can be brought to laser beam machining. In that case, by the up-and-down movement of the lens 17, an optimum lens position in which the cut width becomes minimum can be set automatically, and by a laser beam whose focusing is executed optimumly, the work W can be brought to cut-working. |
