<p>PURPOSE:To reduce friction loss and to prevent the ununiformity of tension in the lateral direction of a tape by abutting the magnetic face of the tape guided with a tape guiding part only on an air film surface generated by rotation of a rotary head drum. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic face of a tape 5 guided by the tape guide part 2 of a rotary head device is so formed that it is abutted only on the air film surface generated by the rotation of a rotating drum 1. Consequently, the friction loss is reduced by an air bearing effect uniform throughout the tape magnetic face. A tape sticking phenomenon due to dew condensation or the like is eliminated because there is no fixed guiding parts abutted on the tape magnetic face, and the ununiformity of the tension distribution in the lateral direction of the tape due to the difference of friction coefficient is prevented.</p> |
