TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING APPARATUS

PURPOSE:To suppress the degree of deterioration of the performance of the radiation pattern of an antenna and to reduce the cross sectional area of radar reflection by arranging an optical system in procimity to the antenna in part of the vicinity of the antenna constituted of radiation elements arranged in a curved surface pattern. CONSTITUTION:Radiowaves such as radar signals which are generated in a transmitter 3 are emitted into space through a duplexer 2 and an antenna 1. Conversely, the reflected signal from the target passes through the reverse path with respect to the transmitting time, and the target signal is detected through the duplexer 2. The antenna beam is electronically deflected by a beam controlling device 5 so that the antenna beam can be moved to the direction of the target bearing. Meanwhile, optical waves such as infrared rays emitted from the target are transduced into electric signals in a detector 7 for the optical waves through an optical system 6. The optical system 6 is provided in the vicinity of the antenna 1 so that the degree of the deterioration in performance of the radiation pattern of the antenna does not become large.
