A firearm, in particular a pistol, is provided with a firing pin 2, which can be moved in a housing 1, to initiate firing, and with a trigger lever 4. In order to reduce the distance between the barrel axis and the trigger lever 4 and the trigger 3 itself, using simple means, the trigger lever 4 is mounted in the housing 1, above the firing pin 2.
