The invention relates to a vacuum-packaging apparatus, especially for foodstuffs, according to the pre-characterising clause of Claim 1. The object of the invention is to improve an apparatus of the type in question, in such a way that ergonomically advantageous conditions and an easy cleaning of the space located underneath the apparatus are possible. This object is achieved, according to the invention, in that the change-over valve and the vacuum pump are mounted on the carrier, the pistons being arranged in cylindrical chambers designed as recesses in the carrier, and in that the switchboard together with a control is mounted on the frame, the support being a plate which is at a distance from the floor surface.
