<p>PURPOSE:To prevent damages due to thermal stress of a filter made of ceramic by controlling an average drop velocity of the temperature of exhaust gas entering into a filter to be a specified value or less in a specified time period only after burning particulates accumulated in the filter. CONSTITUTION:Exhaust gas from a diesel engine passes through at first an exhaust pipe 13 and then a three-way valve 15 and is introduced via a lead-in pipe 12 into a treated gas connection port 6 in a vessel 5 at the front. Then, the exhaust gas is introduced into one cell 2a in a ceramic filter 1, and passes through a cell wall and enters into the other cell 2b, then discharged in a muffler connection port 7. At this time particulates in the exhaust gas which can not be filtrated into the cell wall is withheld and accumulated in one cell 2a. The accumulated particulates are burned and removed by a gas oil burner 8, while controlling an average drop velocity of entering exhaust gas temperature to be 200 deg.C/min. or less for at least three min. after burning the particulates.</p> |
