摘要 PURPOSE:To provide the sintered body having specified surface roughness by making the structure fine, and reducing the pores generated in the structure insofar as possible in the sintered body contg. a stabilizing agent and consisting of ZrO2 and Al2O3. CONSTITUTION:The high-strength ceramic sintered body for tool contains a stabilizing agent and consists of ZrO2 and Al2O3. The surface roughness Rmax of at least one surface of the body is controlled to <=0.05mu. The body is preferably constituted of 50-70wt.% of the ZrO2 contg. 1-5mol% stabilizing agent consisting essentially of Y2O3 and the balance Al2O3. The ZrO2 has a crystal structure consisting of a tetragonal crystal or the tetragonal crystal and <=5% monoclinic crystal. The average grain diameter is controlled to <=0.5mu, and that of the Al2O3 to <=1mu. The content of inevitable impurities is reduced insofar as possible. In addition, the sintered body can be produced by utilizing the method for powder metallurgy.
