PURPOSE:To obtain the title inhibitor which is useful in treatment for a variety of complications in diabetes such as cataract, retinopathy, neurotic disorder or gastric disorder by using a specific compound included in KETSUMEISHI (Cassiae Semen), KASHUU (bulb of Polygonum multiforum Thunb) or plants in the same kind as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:The inhibitor contains the compound of the formula (R1, R3, R5 are OH, methoxy; R2 and R4 are H, OH) as an active ingredient. The dose of the compound is 5 to 500mg/day, when it is orally given, while 0.5 to 100mg/ day in the parenteral application. The compound of the formula is obtained by extracting KETSUMEISHI or KASHUU with an organic solvent such as methanol, ethanol, chloroform or ether and the extract is partitioned with water and a water-insoluble solvent such as benzene or n-hexane or and separated into the soluble fraction and the insoluble fraction with an appropriate solvent such as ethyl acetate and subjected to column chromatography. |
