The device is for loading and unloading articles onto a conveyor. It has a fixed frame (3) and a connected lift platform (4) and at least one arm (6, 8) connected at its one end to a rotary joint (10, 14) on the fixed frame (3) so that the arm (6, 8) can turn about the rotary joint while the position of the joint (10, 14) remains stationary relative to the fixed frame (3). A second rotary joint (11, 15) at the other end of the arm holds this end of the arm on the lift platform so that the arm can turn about the rotary joint. Operating means can exert a displacement movement on the lift platform of a rotary movement on at least one arm whereby the latter rotates about the first joint whilst the second rotary joint (11, 15) at the other end of the arm is guided along a circuit of a circle whose radius is determined by the extent between the first and second rotary joints whereby a corresponding displacement of the lift platform in the horizontal and vertical direction is carried out. USE/ADVANTAGE - The article is speeded up to the same speed as the conveyor before being let down on same so that no sliding of the article takes place, thereby preventing damage.
