PURPOSE:To promote the pumping effect for enhancing the braking force by determining the profile of a cam which finely opens an exhaust valve so as to apply the engine braking, that the opening point of the valve may be started during the compression stroke. CONSTITUTION:The profile 7a of a cam 7 at which the engine braking is employed is defined that the cam has an exhaust valve opened during the compression stroke, in particular, at a point just after the beginning of the compression stroke (with a crank angle theta) which has enough time before the top dead center (TDC), and reaches a specified second lifted position II just before TDC of a completion of the compression stroke. |
