<p>PURPOSE: To assemble an inflator unit for an automobile air bag with a robot by sealing a closure plate member forming an inflator housing and a domed diffuser member by non-welding to withstand a high pressure at the time of combustion. CONSTITUTION: A filter assembly 20 constituted of a double mesh member 36 to cover multiple ports 14 is arranged in a domed diffuser 12, a reinforced bag 48 storing a self-ignition material and a detonator 42 are arranged at the center section, a pyrotechnic gas generating composition 40 is filled, and the diffuser 12 is sealed by a closure member 18. The lead 44 of the detonator 42 is stuck by an epoxy 50, the lower end peripheral edge of the diffuser 12 is caulked to the expanded projection 54 of the closure member 18, a drive ring 16 is inserted to tightly seal with little energy, and an insulator unit is completed. It can be quickly assembled by a robot, and no inspection procedure is required because no welding is applied.</p> |
