PURPOSE:To obtain richer play effect by controlling the characteristics of a musical sound such as timbre according to the interval from the leading edge of a waveform to the start of sound generation. CONSTITUTION:This musical instrument is equipped with pitch extracting means 1 and 2 which extract pitch information from an input waveform signal to extract a pitch cycle, etc., in real time, a central controller MCP3 generates pitch information corresponding to it, and a musical sound generating circuit 501 generates a musical sound of the pitch. Several starting pitch cycles are decided logically and sound generation is started when a stable pitch cycle can be extracted; and how many cycles are required to start the sound generation from the start of the detection of the waveform is measured and transferred as timbre information, etc., to a musical sound generating circuit 501. Therefore, the input signal is disordered intentionally according to a playing method and measured intervals are varied to vary the characteristics, i.e. timbre, etc., of the musical sound. Consequently, richer play effect is obtained. |
