Stretchable oil seal and method for installing it

The seal is made from elastomeric material and is used between an external stationary element and an internal rotary element, making the use of a conventional pressed- steel liner unnecessary. The seal may be stretched over an external plate of a rotary shaft and is able to recover from said elongation up to the design dimension so that the seal can operate inside the outer stationary element. The use of a specially formulated elastomeric composition makes it possible to achieve an elongation, during stretching, in excess of 300%. <IMAGE>
