In the device for the non-positive coupling of the turning apparatus in a rotary sheet printing machine, a fixed toothed gear (1) and an adjustable toothed gear (5), which can be adjusted in the rotational position relative to the fixed toothed gear, can be braced together by means of an actuatable tensioning element (7) and a clamping plate (6) which is supported against the one toothed gear (5) and is held by the tensioning element (7) on the other toothed gear (1). Both toothed gears (1, 5) have additional friction elements (10, 11) which engage in one another in an overlapping fashion in the manner of a multiple disc clutch, the clamping plate (6) being supported by a pressure ring (9) in the overlapping region against an outlying friction element.
