PURPOSE: To improve mechanical strength and safety of a surgical apparatus, by extending an optical wave guide through an end part piece and making the optical wave guide end flush with the end face of the end part piece. CONSTITUTION: A fiber is equipped with an outer buffer 10 on which a sheath 11 made of stainless steel is mounted. A metallic end part piece is inserted through a metallic end part piece 4 in a round bead shape to be flush with the end part of the end part piece. The bead is fixed on the sheath 11 by an adhesive with a composition not stimulant on human body tissue or soldering. By the round tip end part formed by the metallic bead surrounding the fiber end part, operation can be executed without fear of damaging an artery wall. Short time pulse energy from laser is guided into the fiber and discharged from the fiber end part and ablation of tissue is carried out. |
