<p>PURPOSE:To facilitate a picture information process by performing the input and the display of a bit pattern in the same operation as a case where the entry is apparently carried out onto the white paper by a pencil after changing the picture elements into black ones for a picture display means set opposite to a pressed coordinate input means. CONSTITUTION:When a write mode is set, the surface of a pressure sensor 2 is pressed by a writing tool having a sharp top, etc. Thus the picture elements of a display panel 3 corresponding to the pressed part of the sensor 2 are inverted to the black from the white. Under such conditions, the contents of a page memory 6 are refreshed based on the bit pattern supplied from the sensor 2. As a result, the display is never delayed to the input on the panel 3. In other words, the characters, pictures, etc., can be inputted and displayed in the form of a bit pattern as if the characters, etc., were written on an ordinary notebook by a pencil.
