MANUFACTURE OF ELECTRIC DISCHARGE LAMP ELECTRODE

摘要

PURPOSE:To manufacture an electric discharge lamp electrode having its high arcing stability at the rate of high manufacturing efficiency, by making a readily electron-emissive metal ion implantation into the surface layer of an electrode base body metal made of a high-melting point metal. CONSTITUTION:The ions of a readily electron-emissive metal are implanted into the surface layer of an electrode base body metal made of a high-melting point metal for making an electrode implantation. The ions of the readily electron-emissive metal are allowed to be implanted into the surface of a base body metal having its thickness not much exceeding 0.1 micrometer. Furthermore, the density of the metal ions being implanted is specified to have a range not much exceeding 10<17> pieces/cm<2>.
