PURPOSE: To transfer toner particles of small particle size to an image receiving body by forming the image receiving body by successive coating with a coating film of a thermoplastic polymer and a layer of a releasing agent. CONSTITUTION: Toner particles are non-electrostatically transferred from an element to an image receiving body including a substrate, a coating film of a thermoplastic polymer on the substrate and a layer of a releasing agent on the coating film. Though the image receiving body is heated to a temp. above the glass transition temp. of the polymer during the transfer, by the presence of the releasing agent, the image receiving body can be separated from the element without sticking the polymer to the element. The sticking of the image receiving body to the element is avoided and dry toner particles of <8μm particle size can be transferred from the element to the image receiving body.
