Closure device for a door (3) of an oven (1), in particular a hot-air/steam oven, to the frame (2) surrounding the door opening of which there is attached a rubber seal and hinges, and the door (3) of which is equipped with a rotatable handle (9) and a locking device movable therewith and which has an electric switch (15) for interrupting the power supply when the door (3) is opened. In order to design the closure device more simply and reliably, the particular intention being to switch off the power supply earlier upon opening the door (3), provision is made according to the invention for the handle (9) to be attached to a strip (14) located on the free end edge (16) of the door opposite the hinges and rotatable about the vertical relative to the door (3) and to have a gripping bar at a distance from the strip (14), for the strip (14) to have at its upper and/or lower end a hollow space into which a projection (13) fixed to the frame (2) of the oven (1) can be inserted upon closure of the door (3), and for an actuating part (33) intended for co-operation with the electric switch (15) fixed in the frame (2) to be fitted in the gripping bar (25) of the handle (9). <IMAGE>
