The tobacco processing machine is supplied with tobacco through two ducts (86, 87) by a pneumatic transport system. The tobacco is loaded into a hopper (1) through openings (83, 84) either or both of which can be closed by means of a hinged flap (92). A photo-electric cell (6) in the hopper controls the operation of the flap (92) so that, when the level of tobacco in the hopper (1) rises above the photo-electric cell (6), the flap (92) is closed. The processed tobacco is delivered to outlets (63, 64) in the form of two continuous strings. USE - Industrial processing of tobacco.
