PRODUCTION OF CARBON COMPOSITE BODY

摘要

PURPOSE:To uniformly disperse fine crystals as well as to accelerate the graphitization of a carbon matrix by heating an org. compd. under prescribed conditions in the presence of a halide of a group IV element as a reaction accelerator. CONSTITUTION:An org. compd. is mixed with one or more kinds of halides of group IV elements of the periodic table. This mixture is heated to 300-700 deg.C in an inert atmosphere to form a carbon precursor while leaving the group IV elements. The carbon precursor is then carbonized by heating to 700-3,000 deg.C in the inert atmosphere. The carbides of the group IV elements are dispersed in the resulting carbon matrix.
