PURPOSE:To improve the sealing property and to make the maintenance profitable by forming a vacuum space outside the sealed part to perform sealing. CONSTITUTION:Outside sealed part 8 envelops sealed part 5 through a space and form space 9 coming in contact with the outer periphery of the work roll 1a. The space 9 is connected by vacuum piping 10 with a sucking means to keep the space 9 empty. Since the space 9 is held with a suction means, the leaked cooling water is sucked and removed at once, even when the cooling water leaks from the sealed parts 5. Besides, since the space 9 is empty, evaporation temperature is lowered and the cooling water in the shape of a film, which is adhered firmly to the surface of the work roll 1a, too, can be removed. |
