PURPOSE:To obtain the welded joints which are improved in the toughness by subjecting titanium alloys to a preliminary aging treatment, then bringing the alloys into contact with each other in the respective joint parts, applying a high energy density heat source to the contact parts, joining the alloys by welding and then subjecting the welded parts to an aging treatment. CONSTITUTION:The titanium alloys contg., by weight %, 14.0 to 16.0% V, 2.5 to 3.5% Al, 2.5 to 3.5% Cr, and 2.5 to 3.5% Sn as base components are joined to each other. The titanium alloys are subjected to the preliminary aging treatment in this case and are thereafter brought into contact with each other in the respective joint parts. The high energy density heat source is applied to the contact parts and the joint parts are joined by welding; thereafter, at least the joint parts are subjected to the aging treatment. The welded joints improved in the toughness of the welded parts are obtd. in this way without degrading the strength of the base metal parts. |
