PURPOSE:To weld a thick walled member easily by connecting the same to the same electric power source in a symmetrical relation with weld zones on the front and rear sides of materials to be welded and connecting arc forming circuits in parallel, and oscillating the arcs in the thickness direction of the materials to be welded is controlling the electric currents flowing in the respective circuits. CONSTITUTION:Plate materials 6, 6' to be welded and an electric power source 9 for welding are connected by means of a conductor 10 on the front 6a, 6'a sides of the materials 6, 6' and are connected by means of a conductor 10' paralleling with the conductor 10 on the rear 6b, 6'b sides. More specifically, the arc forming circuits connected to the same power source are constituted in parallel on the front 6a, 6'a sides and the rear 6b, 6'b sides. The circuits are so controlled that the positions of arcs 5 in the thickness direction of the materials 6, 6' are determined by the balancing of mutually opposite electromagnetic forces 4, 4'. Therefore, the positions of said arcs are determined by balancing of the forces 4, 4'. The forces 4, 4' are affected mainly by the electric current flowing in the arc forming circuit on the front side and the current 2' flowing in the same circuit on the rear side and the positions of the arcs 5 in the thickness direction are regulated as desired by regulating the currents 2, 2'. |
