PURPOSE:To reduce the gap among grains in an oxide superconductor and to increase the current pass area by compacting powder of an oxide superconductor represented by a general formula to a prescribed density and by subjecting the resulting green compact to hot hydrostatic pressing under prescribed conditions. CONSTITUTION:Powder of an oxide superconductor represented by a general formula A-B-Cu-O (where A is a group IIIa, Vb or IIIb element of the periodic table and B is a group IIa element) is compacted to >=80% relative density. The resulting green compact is subjected to hot hydrostatic pressing at 800-1,000 deg.C under 500-2,000atm pressure in an atmosphere contg. oxygen. |
