Polyester composite fiber having potential crimping properties is prepd. by side-by-side type conjugated spinning of polyethylene terephthalate having 0.65 intrinsic viscosity and 50-80% high shrinkable polyester copolmer of the same kind having 0.73 intrinsic viscosity; stretching to 3.8-3.9 times at 80-100≦̸C; and relaxation heat-treatment to 20-28% at 175-220≦̸C; and again, strain heat- treatment to 5-9% at below 65≦̸C. In figure, A is low shrinkable polymer, B is high-shrinkable polymer.
