摘要 |
It is known to use chemical compositions based on alkali metal peroxides and dioxides as the oxygen source in respirators. The known chemical compositions have the drawback, however, that at the beginning of breathing through the respirator the oxygen generation starts up only very hesitantly. In order to avoid this initial oxygen deficiency, it is proposed, on the basis of the present invention, not to use the peroxides on their own, but in a mixture with strong oxidants such as permanganates and periodates. Mixtures of peroxides with strong oxidants react, under the influence of the humidity from the exhaled air of the person wearing the respirator, to release oxygen, whereas dry mixtures do not react. If such mixtures are granulated and filled into the chemical cartridge of a respirator, sufficient oxygen for breathing is available to the person wearing the respirator right from the beginning of breathing through the respirator.
