PURPOSE:To obtain a good switch even with poor dimensional accuracy by disposing the contact parts on the side surfaces of at least two plastic optical waveguides so as to face to each other and making the contact parts contactable with each other when pressurized. CONSTITUTION:The contact parts 1a, 2a on the two side faces of optical waveguides 1 and 2 are disposed so as to face to each other. The liqht incident to the waveguide 1 is not transmitted to the waveguide 2 but when pressure is exerted upon the parts 1, 2, the light is transmitted from the waveguide 1 to the waveguide 2. Since the contact is not by the end surfaces of the optical waveguides but by their side surfaces, the good optical switch is obtained even with poor dimensional accuracy. |
