The equipment prevents carbon deposits on engine pistons, the piston having one or more compression rings in grooves (6,2). It comprises one or more annular components (12) contained in the space enclosed between the groove walls and bottom (3,4,5) and the inside edge (10) of the compression ring (6). The min. dimension of the component in the axial direction of the piston is greater than the clearance between the groove walls and the top and bottom ring surfaces.
