Holding, self-locking mechanism for retaining a bolt which includes a plate which has a hole through it for receiving the bolt, a keeper mounted moveably on the plate and moveable between a first position in contact with a selected number of faces of the head of the bolt and a second position separate from the faces, the keeper having a surface portion for receiving a tool when the tool is placed on the head of the bolt for displacing the keeper into the second position, and a pusher device for moving the keeper into the first position when the tool is removed from the head of the bolt. <IMAGE>
