PURPOSE:To improve strength, corrosion and alkali resistances by mixing SiC with metallic Si, a specified metal silicide and an org. binder, molding the mixture and calcining it under reduction. CONSTITUTION:3-10 pts.wt. org. binder such as phenolic resin is added to a blend of 80-95 pts.wt. SiC with 5-20 pts.wt. metallic Si and 0.2-5 pts.wt. at least one kind of metal silicide selected among CrSi2, TiSi2, ZrSi2, MoSi2, WSi2, TaSi2 and NbSi2. They are mixed, press-molded, put in a sheath and calcined at >=1,200 deg.C under reduction. |
