PURPOSE:To obtain a ceramic sliding member having stable quality without causing generation of defective parts such as delaminated part by reducing a content of a metal component in a ceramic material to a specified value or less. CONSTITUTION:The title ceramic sliding member consists of a ceramic material having <=3500ppm content of a metal component, pref. <=2000ppm of Fe. The ceramic sliding member is prepd. by granulating a slurry of ceramic raw material powder, forming the granulated product to a specified shape, and calcining the formed product, wherein the contained metal component is removed substantially by at least one stage among the above described stages. The removal of the metal component is performed by, for example, (1) filtering the slurry through a screen having a magnet attached thereto, (2) allowing the ceramic raw material powder to contact with a magnet before the material is transformed to slurry, or (3) allowing the granulated product prepd. from the slurry to contact with a magnet, etc., or by a process combining said processes. |
