A closed circuit for purifying a neutral gas atmosphere contained in a glove box 10 comprises a main pipework 14 in which two series of specific purifiers 22a, 24a; 22b, 24b are placed in parallel. The pressure is controlled by means of a buffer storage vessel 84 which is in communication with a bypass pipework 76 via two three-way solenoid valves 80, 82 placed upstream and downstream of a compressor 78, in parallel on a booster compressor 20 placed in the main pipework 14. A control station 112, in combination with an indicator for displaying breakdowns 114, controls the operation of the plant by means of control members d1 to d3, p1 to p4, making it possible in particular to supervise continuously the leakproofing state of the circuit, guaranteeing that good performance and operating safety are obtained. <IMAGE>
