A method is described for correction of the detonation time of a projectile which is fired from a barrel, by means of a device for determining and evaluating the Doppler effect on microwave radiation which is emitted from the weapon barrel at a specific transmission frequency, to be precise using the formula <IMAGE> where S = distance, c = the speed of light, fo = transmission frequency from the weapon barrel fD = Doppler frequency According to the invention, the device measures the actual projectile speed profile with respect to time only for a specific time duration after firing and, outside this time duration, especially after it, the further speed profile is extrapolated.
