PURPOSE:To enhance overdischarging characteristics with a low rate current by arranging lead fol or lead plate on that side of pos. electrode plate opposite to the neg. electrode plate with a separator interposed, and installing a group of electrode plates in which the lead foil or lead plate is connected with the neg. electrode plate. CONSTITUTION:A pos. electrode plate 1 is wrapped with a U-shaped separator 3, and a neg. electrode plate 2 is installed on one side with a separator interposed while a lead foil 4 arranged on the other side. A connection part is provided on this lead foil 4 and put in contact with the neg. electrode plate 2 through the bottom of the U-shaped separator 3, and a group of electrode plates is provided in which the lead foil 4 is connected with the neg. electrode late 2. In case this battery is charged with a low rate current, the current flowing through the neg. electrode plate 2 will become small. Thereby the amount of lead sulfate accumulated on the neg. electrode plate 2 is decreased to lead to enhancement of the overcharging characteristics.
