PURPOSE:To select the shortest route based on various conditions in a packet switching network by dynamically altering a routing table based on the contents of a response packet. CONSTITUTION:When an exchange station 1 transmits a route check packet to an exchange station 2, concerning routes 6 to 8, a route check packet 9 including the identifier of the route as information is transmitted to the route 6. Further to the routes 7 and 8, a route check packet 10 including the identifier of the route concerned and a route check packet 11 including the identifier of the route concerned are respectively simultaneously transmitted. When the exchange station 2 receives the route check packets 9 to 11, it transmits a response packet 12 set with a reception sequence as the information to the exchange station 11. Thus, since the packets are practically sent to the respective outgoing routes, the shortest route at such a time point can be obtained by actual measuring, and an optimum routing control can be executed. |
