PURPOSE:To improve the recording characteristic and the reproduction characteristic by providing a prescribed high saturation magnetic flux density alloy thin film and a prescribed low saturation magnetic flux density alloy thin film to a core gap. CONSTITUTION:The high saturation magnetic flux density alloy thin film 2 having a higher saturation magnetic flux density than that of a core 1 is provided to one end face of the gap of the core 1, and the low saturation magnetic flux density alloy thin film 4 having a lower saturation magnetic flux density than that of the core 1 is provided to the other end face. Then the saturation magnetic density in terms of DC of the low saturation magnetic flux density alloy thin film 4 is preferably 1,500 - 3,000G, and more preferably 1,800 - 2,500G. Thus, the magnetic head is used as a wide gap magnetic head at the recording and as a narrow gap magnetic head at the reproduction, then the recording and reproduction characteristic is improved. |
