PURPOSE:To offer the main-spindle interference preventing method of a double main spindle lathe which can effectively used the stroke of the movement of main spindles by obtaining the distance between main spindles from the information on the detected positions of the two main spindles, comparing same with an allowable distance and monitoring the interference of the main spindles with each other. CONSTITUTION:An A-main spindle present position reading portion 3 and a B-main spindle present position reading portion 3' carry out the reading of position information detected by an A-main spindle Z-axis position detector 2 and a B-main spindle Z-axis position detector 2', while a main spindle approach allowable distance operating portion 7 carries out the operation of the distance between both main spindles based on the position information on both main spindles which are positioned at a mutually approach allowable distance. A setting portion 8 sets the operated result, a main-spindle present position operating portion 9 carries out the operation of the distance between both main spindles based on the position information on both main spindles during machine operation, a main spindle distance comparing portion 10 carriers out comparison between the present distance between both main spindles operated by the operating portion 9 and a main spindle approach allowable distance set by the setting portion 8, and an alarm generating portion 11 generates alarm based on the information from the main spindle distance comparing portion 10. |
