PURPOSE:To improve the durability and charging properties by polymerizing a monomer composition in the presence of a latex which is obtained by emulsion polymerization of another monomer composition in the presence of an emulsifier. CONSTITUTION:A latex is produced by subjecting 0.05-5 pts.wt. monomer composition A of inequality I [wherein Mk is the amount (pts.wt.) of the component of each monomer; A is equality II; Sk is the solubility of each monomer in water at 20 deg.C; w is the amount (pts.wt.) of water used in the polymerization; and K=5], which contains 40wt.% or more monomer with Sk<=0.5 (e.g., styrene) to emulsion polymerization. 99.95-95 pts.wt. monomer composition B which contains 60wt.% or more monomer with Sk<=0.5 (e.g., styrene) is added to the latex to cause polymerization.
