PURPOSE:To obtain the electrophotographic sensitive body having a high sensitivity characteristic and a stable potential characteristic at the time of repetitive use by providing a photosensitive layer contg. a specific azo pigment on a conductive base. CONSTITUTION:The residual coupler group expressed by the formula II is used for at least one of Cp in the formula I of the electrophotographic sensitive body having the photosensitive layer contg. the azo pigment expressed by the formula I on the conductive base. In the formula I, Ar denotes an arom. hydrocarbon ring or arom. heterocyclic group which may be bonded via a bond group; Cp denotes the residual coupler group having a phenolic hydroxyl group and n denotes 1 to 4 integer. In the formula II, Q denotes a bivalent arom. hydrocarbon group or bivalent heterocyclic group which may have a substituent; X denotes a residual group necessary for forming a polycyclic arom. ring or heterocyclic group by condensing to a benzene ring.
